How to meditate properly

When you search what is meditation and how to meditate you will find hundreds of different ideas and mediation descriptions.

So how to meditate properly?

Let’s look at meditation as another state of our mind during our day.

Every day we go through our daily routines like driving car, working or sleeping. Our brain is in slightly different mode during each of them as we need to concentrate on different task.

When driving a car you attention will be on traffic around you. When working you will be focusing on achieving your work goals. When meditating you will be more focused on your inside.

Observing your state of mind when you are sleeping can be quite difficult because you are sleeping and don’t know much about yourself except dreaming. Your mind when you are asleep is very close to meditative state of mind but describing mediation can as tricky as describing you sleep.

Can you tell that you had bad sleep?

You know how you have felt after your sleep when you woke up and you can compare it with your previous experiences. How you felt yesterday or week ago. You are able to do it because you practice sleeping every night.

It is same whit meditation. If you have never meditated you have no feedback and you can’t compare it with your previous experiences. Once you start you will be able to feel difference.

You can say you had deep mediation or perhaps you will drift into sleep but with each practice you gain more experience and there isn’t anything you can do about it as far as you mediate your mediation will keep improving and after a while you will be able to say … YES this was proper mediation.

There is no right or wrong way. You have to concentrate on what you trying to achieve and give it your best shot.

  • Focus
  • Create intention
  • What is it you arer trying to do?
  • Why you doing it?

Say your intention loudly or in your head before you begin and go for it.  Search internet and test different meditations. As far as it feels comfortable keep practicing. Each of us is different and what works for me might not work for you but if you are feeling that it wasn’t proper mediation that isn’t reason to stop.

I am sure when you were child and you were learning how to walk you felt on floor but you got up and tried and tried until you could walk.

Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t feel right straight from beginning but keep trying and you will succeed and discover your proper way how to mediate.
